New wave of classics

From the archive, first published Thursday 15th Aug 2002.

New Wave fans will be pleased to hear Blondie and Beyond will be taking to the stage at The Shed on Friday August 16.

Debbie Harry soundalike, Marcelle Southall of Tividale, will be strutting her stuff at the Brierley Hill venue belting out hits such as Call Me, Heart of Glass, Maria and Hanging on The Telephone.

Marcelle, aged 26, is backed by her band, guitarists, Jason Roger and Craig Grove, bassist, Wayne Rudge and his wife Jenny on keyboards and Mick Smith on drums.

The band has been gigging around the Midlands for nearly two years and also drop a few other 80s classics into their set list to keep everyone happy.

Anyone interested in checking them out should pop into The Shed, Wedgbury Way, off Brettell Lane over the weekend.

Admission is £5 before 11pm and £6 afterwards with support from Acada.
